Responsible Feeding and Safety Tips

Serve the Right Amount

Offer a portion that fits your dog’s size and usual eating habits. If the pieces feel too large, break them into smaller bites before serving.

Keep an Eye on Treat Time

Stay nearby while your dog enjoys the puffs, especially if they tend to eat quickly. It helps make sure they are chewing comfortably rather than swallowing too fast.

Introduce New Treats Slowly

If yak cheese puffs are new to your dog, start with a smaller serving and see how they respond before offering more.

Keep Treats in Balance

These puffs work well as a reward or occasional snack, but they should complement your dog’s regular meals rather than replace them.

Fresh Water Should Be Available

Keep clean drinking water within easy reach whenever you serve treats.

Shipping

Enjoy free shipping on purchases over $35(Limited time only) after applicable promotions. For instance, if you're using a 10% discount code, the initial total must be at least $40.56 before the discount is applied.

Aussie approved!

He hears the zip-top bag slide open from the other side of the house and comes sliding across the floor. Hands down his favorite everyday treat.

Puppy obsessed!

Loves the crunch! Clean, simple treats that don't smell weird in my pocket. 10/10!

Easy crunch for older dogs

My 11-year-old rescue can't handle the rock-hard yak sticks anymore, but these crunchy puffs give him that same cheesy flavor. Clean ingredients.

Easy crunch for senior dogs

My 11-year-old rescue can't gnaw on rock-hard yak bars anymore, but these crunchy puffs give him that exact same cheesy flavor with an easy, satisfying crunch. Clean 2-ingredient recipe.

Great training reward, just a few crushed pieces

The bulk bag gives you a massive stash that lasts weeks. They break apart easily for quick training rewards on walks. Only giving 4 stars because a handful at the bottom of the bag were crushed into powder, but I just sprinkled that over their dinner anyway!

Great training reward, few crumbs at the bottom

The bulk box gives you an enormous stash that lasts for weeks. They snap apart cleanly so you can use smaller pieces for training drills on walks. Only giving 4 stars because the sticks at the bottom were crushed into powder, but I just dusted that over their kibble as a topper anyway!

Huge time-saver for multi-dog homes!

We used to buy the hard yak bars and microwave the leftover nub pieces ourselves, but getting a massive bulk bag of ready-to-eat crunchy puffs is a total game changer. They have an incredible crunch, no greasy residue on your fingers, and both our Lab and Shepherd go absolutely wild for them. Worth every single cent for the quantity you get.

Huge time-saver, no microwaving needed!

We used to buy the hard yak bars and microwave the end pieces ourselves, but getting a bulk bag of ready-to-eat puffs is so much more convenient. They have an awesome crunch, no weird grease on your fingers, and my lab goes absolutely crazy for them. 10/10 value for the quantity you get!

Frequently Asked Questions

What are Himalayan Yak Chews?

Himalayan Yak Chews are 100% natural, long-lasting dog chews made from yak/cow milk and lime juice, free from artificial additives, preservatives, or chemicals. Available in traditional and naturally flavored varieties (like banana, blueberry, coconut, pumpkin, mint, strawberry, turmeric), they provide a delicious, highly digestible chew that helps clean teeth and reduce plaque. As your dog chews, it also naturally helps clean teeth and reduce plaque. Once it wears down to a small size, simply microwave it into a crunchy yak puff treat — zero waste, maximum value.

What is the story or origin behind this chew?

Kathmandus Natural Dog Chew is produced using an ancient recipe of the people living in the high altitude of Nepal (Himalayas). The smaller variant of this hard cheese, locally known as Churpi, is still used as a protein-supplemental human chew in the Himalayas and is free of chemical preservatives and foreign additives. Our dog chew is a larger variant of Churpi that keeps your dog happy and busy for hours.

How long does our yak chews last?

Most dogs need several chewing sessions to finish a single yak chew, even if they're aggressive chewers. Unlike many other chews, ours never lose their flavor, so your dog stays engaged for longer-lasting enjoyment.

Are yak chews safe and easy to digest?

Yes! 100% natural, with no artificial colors, flavors, chemicals, or preservatives, our chews are highly digestible. They're designed to soften and break down gradually as your dog chews — rather than splintering like many rawhide or bone-based alternatives.

Do yak chews leave stains or color behind?

No! Since our chews contain no artificial dyes, they won't leave any color or stains behind. They're completely mess-free and safe around your pet's fur, carpet, bedding, and furniture.

Are they suitable for puppies or large dogs?

Yes! We offer multiple sizes so you can choose the right fit for your dog's breed and chewing strength. As with any chew, select an appropriate size and supervise your dog while chewing — especially puppies and powerful chewers.

I'm not sure what size chew is right for my dog. Can you help?

We offer 7 sizes to match your dog's weight, so every pup gets an appropriately-sized chew:

Small(1-1.5oz) - Under 15lbs

Medium(2.5-3oz) - Under 30lbs

Large(3-4oz) - Under 55lbs

X-Large(5-6oz) - Under 80lbs

Jumbo(6-7oz) - Under 90lbs

Mega(7-8oz) - Under 100lbs

XXL(8-10oz) - Over 100lbs

If your dog is between sizes or a particularly aggressive chewer, we recommend sizing up for a longer-lasting chew. As always, supervise chewing sessions regardless of size.

What safety precautions should I keep in mind while my dog is chewing?

Our Chew provides a hygienic and safe option compared to bones and other chewing treats for dogs. Like similar products, including chews, rawhide, or bones, there is a risk of choking if swallowed and a possibility of breaking or chipping a tooth. It is essential to always supervise your dog during chewing activities and ensure they have access to plenty of water. If you observe any potential risks, stop using the product immediately.

What is the proper storage condition for the chew?

Store in a cool dry place. Do not refrigerate.

What's the difference between Yak Chew Nuggets, the Cheese Topper, and Yak Cheese Puffs?

Yak Chew Nuggets are bite-sized, long-lasting chews perfect for dedicated chewing sessions.
Himalayan Yak Cheese Topper is a powdered form you can sprinkle over your dog's regular food for added protein and flavor.
Crunchy Yak Cheese Puffs are light, crunchy treats — the same puffed texture you get when you microwave leftover chew pieces, now available ready-to-serve.
